Manchester City Target Samuel Eto’o

Manchester City with their infinite billions, are targeting Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o as the big possibility for their next high profile transfer, when the window opens this summer. And Barcelona isn’t a bad place to be looking for talent, considering the Spanish giants are practically overflowing with it. Which will also no doubt propel them to a Champions League title this year.
Anybody contesting that fact just needs to look at the way Barcelona can demolish a club, or the way that United barely squeaked past them in last year’s Semifinal. A club that’s leaked as many goals as Chelsea have in recent weeks doesn’t have a prayer against Barcelona’s brand of attacking ferocity, not if United’s five star defense barely held them off.
Despite Bosingwa’s protests that he can entirely contain Lionel Messi, which I honestly thought was a joke at first, but turns out Bosingwa actually said and believes that, according to the Daily Star.
City couldn’t be picking a better time as well, considering of all Barcelona’s attackers, Eto’o can sometimes be forgotten as being one of their most ferocious. But again I’m reminded of a point I’ve made numerous times about manager Mark Hughes high profile targets for City, that being, none of them have been proven in the Premiership. The fastest paced, most brutally physical football league in the world tends to take it’s toll on stars that aren’t up for the change of scenery.
Which is why I say if you’re targeting someone on Barcelona, and you want a striker that you know can handle the Prem, why waste your time on Eto’o when Henry could easily be pried from Barca’s slimy fingers. You know, Thierry Henry, the man that single handedly turned Arsenal into the best club anybody had ever seen, when they completely dominated the Premiership in the 03/04 season. Henry can not only play the Premiership way, he can excel at it like few other players could ever hope to accomplish.

That’s the target City should be gunning for, that’s the type of quality Mark Hughes needs to put that transfer money to good use.
And if you’re still not convinced, remember Henry was the Premiership’s top scorer for three years in a row before he left the League.
