Cristiano Ronaldo Earns The Golden Ball

Cristiano Ronaldo has won European football’s finest honour, as the United man has been given the golden ball, the prestigious and in higher regard than FIFA’s own trophy, Ballon d’Or. And why shouldn’t Ronaldo have deserved the trophy?
He basically single handedly earned Manchester United the Premiership title as well as the Champions League trophy last season. I know we’re talking about a squad that has the likes of modern legends Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, as well as Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. But Ronaldo carried that team last year, and in the two most competitive competitions available in world football, while scoring 42 goals as a midfielder, if anyone deserves a best player in Europe trophy more, I absolutely cannot think of one.
This will mark Ronaldo’s joining of such other legends as Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Kevin Keegan, Zidane, Ronaldinho, and Maradona. Proving that Ronaldo has the mettle to be and compete as and with the best.
Although the only real issue I have, is just that I think Ronaldo needs to dive a little less. Because let’s face it, his incredible talents notwithstanding, Ronaldo could stop hugging the pitch every time he’s touched. Not every contact is a foul, and Ronaldo, Nani, and now even Wayne Rooney, need to realize that and just keep fighting for the ball, maybe then United would be at the top of the League instead of sitting in third.
