Manchester City Chokes Completely, Once Again

Apparently the problem at Manchester City was not former manager Sven Goran Eriksson, but rather the players themselves as even Mark Hughes has failed to get the unruly bunch to get their heads in the game long enough to stay on the pitch. City had two players sent off in today’s clash against Tottenham, Fernandes in the 26th minute, and City captain Richard Dunne in the 83rd.
Mark Hughes apparently cannot get his players under control, because getting two players sent off in one match is completely unacceptable, especially considering the circumstances. With a Robinho goal to put City ahead in the 15th minute, this was the Manchester side’s match to lose. And apparently the players are so distraught that Mark Hughes can’t get them to focus long enough to carry that lead for another 75.
And Richard Dunne seriously? Why did Hughes fight for Dunne to re-sign with the club to continue as captain, when the man has such a childish temperament that’s going to stop his effectively leading the club? The tackle in which he dragged down Bent maliciously, when Bent was clearly through and on a hat trick , is not the sign of a great captain. I understand emotions run high, but sometimes you need to be a professional, and cynical tackles that earn you three match bans, is not the way to go about business.
On the flip side of the coin, what a performance from Darren Bent who single handedly gave Tottenham the match with his two brilliant goals. And what does Bent attribute his career revival to? The striker said in an after match interview that the faith Harry Redknapp has put in him, unlike the lack of belief from Ramos, has inspired him to play to his full potential.
Good show Harry.
