Cristiano Ronaldo has essentially pledged his future to Manchester United with his latest quote, “Last season was the best moment of my career but I know I can get even better. “I want to score more, win more trophies. I’m at the right club for that.

“Last season enabled me to achieve great things on many levels and I’m really happy.

“I’m lucky as I have a great relationship with everyone at United.”

Has Ronaldo put the attention clamouring Real Madrid rumouring of the past? Has he finally realized Sir Alex Ferguson has made the boy what he is today, by giving him opportunity and developing his talent?

I understand football clubs are businesses, basically corporations of their own, so when the day comes that United are done with Ronaldo, they will drop him without even considering past loyalty. But I think it is admirable for Ronaldo to realize though football is a cutthroat industry, he does owe United something, and for the moment Manchester is exactly where he should be for the sake of his career.

Also of note today is that Joey Barton has already made controversy for himself, for an alleged poke to Agbonlahor during the Newcastle v. West Ham fixture. Newcastle of course responded by saying: “Any incident regarding Joey is going to be blown up twice as much as it’s going to be with any other player.

“I wasn’t aware of any incident with Joey at all.”

Well I agree that’s basically true. But how can you blame the unfair attention from the FA when Barton randomly beats the piss out of fans and fellow players because of his uncontrollable temper?
