I Don’t Undestand The Football Association’s Rule Proposals Anymore

Football is at the beginning of becoming an unbelivably frustrating sport for managers and fans alike with the amount of new limitations proposed on how you can build your club.  The FA has come up with another dumb rule the likes of Sepp Blatter’s 6+5 rule of last season.  England’s governing body for football has proposed forcing clubs to use two places in their seven substitutes for under-21 players.  Supposedly to develop new talent, instead of having young players struggle to get into the starting eleven at a pro club.

I just don’t understand that at all.  The FA finally gets on board and gives Premiership managers seven subs, only to take those two extra away completely by forcing you into how you use them.  Why can’t you let the manager manage?  Wayne Rooney was under 21 not so very long ago, two years ago, and he didn’t seem to have much trouble breaking into any clubs starting eleven.  If the manager feels a player is right, he’ll play him, so why are you making a ridiculous rule to force a manager into whom to play?

The big clubs in England are all about developing young talent, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all known for their youth programs and their never ending search for the next best players.  Most clubs already have their youth programs, which move talent along at their own pace.  Why are you going to force them into using the youngsters before they’re ready?

Even Mark Hughes at City has promised despite the club’s new billionaire owners, Mark Hughes will not abandon the youth program that has worked well for City in the past.  Why is that not enough?

But in the age of English domination of world football, and FIFA as well as UEFA’s blatant prejudice against all things England, you can understand the slew of stupidity.  An example is this years 4+4 rule for the Champions League, of which most clubs already met the requirements, making the decsision a little ridiculous and redundant.  So as long as we have the best teams, don’t be surprised if the stupid rules never stop.  You know, the ones that say you can’t use your best players because English club’s are too good and Sepp Blatter want’s to see anyone else win European trophies.
