Capello Makes England Look Horrible Against Andorra

Fabio Capello is making stupid decisions for England so far, even for him. Considering World Cup Qualifying is happening now, why would you not play your best squad? I don’t understand Capello’s decisions, and I know that England has had a few injured players. But…why oh why would you start Glen Johnson over Wes Brown, when Wes Brown has finally shaped up into a brilliant defender? Why would you start Walcott instead of Beckham, when Beckham has the ball England always looks set to score from a brilliant cross that could come at any time. When Walcott is on the pitch, not so much.

Stuart Downing? Gareth Barry? Jermaine Defoe? You have Joe Cole on the bench, who scores goals, it’s what he does. Cole never stops running, and is always up front in the attack no matter how far back on the pitch he started. Not to mention it was Cole that as a second half substitute, netted England’s two goals in the 2-0 victory. Jermaine Defoe has never been good for England, as he’s too obvious. When Defoe gets the ball you know for a fact he’s going to shoot, so defenders just stomp on him immediately, rendering him completely useless.

And Gareth Barry? Really? Because you have the brilliant passing and fast attack of David Bentley on the bench. Barry is awful for England, awful awful awful. So if you’re not going to start Beckham, why would you not offer the man that’s supposed to replace him when Becks eventually retires from Internationals?

England looked an absolute shambles. Against Andorra of all countries. Need I remind you Andorra is made up of part-time footballers, and England offering the best of the Premiership had a whole world of trouble against them.

Take a note Capello, and play Beckham from the start on the right as long as he’s fit, Wes Brown should start, and no game should be without Joe Cole for an entire 45 minute stretch. Because what I saw happen yesterday, will not cut it against Croatia, or really anybody else for that matter.
